Offensive Evolution: The Caldwell Effect

In just four games, Kim Caldwell has immediately impacted the Tennessee Lady Vols, taking an offense that averaged 76.3 points per game last season and boosting it to 97.2 PPG, the 12th-best in the country. While the sample size remains small, the numbers speak volumes about Caldwell's ability to elevate the Lady Vols’ offensive firepower.

In Coach Caldwell’s system, you will be asked to do two things on offense: get to the rim and shoot the three. Last season, Tennessee ranked 84th in the nation with 695 three-point attempts. But through just four games this season, the Lady Vols have flipped the script. They currently lead the NCAA with 115 three-point attempts, on pace to finish the season with 834—a dramatic increase that would have been good for a top-15 finish in attempts last season. 

According to Barttrovik, the Lady Vols boast the 12th-best-adjusted offense and the 7th-ranked adjusted tempo. 

One moniker used for Tennessee Football during the Hendon Hooker eras was “Fast. Fun. Real” Nowadays, that moniker may be reserved for Coach Caldwell and her Lady Vols.
